Vst live mixer is screwy

Hi. I have a live gig coming up and ive updated to the latest vst live but the mixer doesnt function properly.
Mainly the sends. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont, sometimes they dont turn off, sometimes they dont change per song, sometimes the routing sends audio to the wrong output.
Im not a new user to audio. This is definitely a major software glitch.

Please advise on how I can correct this. Is there a more stable version i should use instead?
Thanks in advance

Hi Paul, developers are working on a new pre-release version where all routing problems will be fixed, they are focusing hard on solving few bugs arised after most recent changes in last versions have screwed up a bit of routing and song switching routines. For this reason they have not published pre-releases last 2 fridays. Usually every Friday they publish here on The forum a pre-release. I’m confident tomorrow we will have a new pre-release with all bug routing and song switching related fixed.

On wich version are you? On www.vstlive.net you can find all versions. For max stability I suggest you to try 2.2.19 (missing few new features but rock solid stable for routing). Last pre-release 2.2.36 still have some problems in song switching (expecially with action next song and play/rec via shortcut) and in song group sends routing.

Cheers, Ciro.

Thanks Ciro. I cant nelieve how fast you replied.

While i have your attention, could you please include send automation?

Also, are groups song specific or global? Having them global takes up valuable resources if every song needs a different config.

Thanks.

Hi Paul, thanks, but I’m not at Steinberg, just a “pro” user, I’m helping devs tackling some bugs.

Groups can be global groups, always active, or song groups (you can add groups or song groups in mixer tab), only present for the song they are added.

Sends automations already works, you can add an automation track in tracks, then link the track to a mixer channel , and you’ll have controls on send enable, send volume etc etc

Next version will have song groups sends working again, and automatable. Global groups and automations works normally.

Sorry… buggy version im using is 2.2.30.350

What’s buggy?
Could you please provide some example routing that you do that is not working with that version?
And see what Ciro replied, there are multiple types of channels and some are local to a Song, others are not.
Maybe try 2.2.19 as Ciro also suggested. Latest pre-release versions (presumably 2.2.29 and upwards) may have issues with Sends, we are very busy fixing.

Hi there

Yea i think its switching between songs.
Eg, ill move on to the next song and the audio input from previous song still is playing through the groups (effects) even though the audio doesnt even exist in the current song and even if i mute it on the previous song. Its still passing through.

What im really in need of now is, where do i find previous releases? Theres nothing on steinberg website to suggest that 30 is a beta. In fact, its the ONLY available download wheb going to downloads.

Thanks for your help

Found the versions. .net

There is a sustain time for audio input (Stacks) as well as for Layers in Preferences, during which channels keep processing, but should fade out then.

We did a lot of improvements and fixes with Sends, so pls try the next upcoming pre-release version. Of course, if your gig is up too soon, better pick a version you could test to work for you.

Hi Musicillum.

Ive been trying to lock down the logic of the fault. Its pretty full on. Id be surprised if Im tye only one who has ‘discovered’ this.
Ill break it down as succinctly as possible.

Open a show.

First song has just 3 stacks, 1 layer, no tracks.
1 layer has a send to a song group.

It doesnt work (but it should and it did yesterday).

Despite turning thecsend on and off, it doesnt send audio.

If i change it to a different group, it works, but now it wont turn off from that group.

If i create a new send and send it to the group im after, that works.

And tomorrow we go through it all again.

Except, it worked perfectly until my most recent save with a couple of new songs.

If this is comfusing, im happy to shoot a quick video to explain.

Paul

Pls try again with the upcoming pre-release version. We fixed several issues with Sends routing.

Hi there.

Just confirming. Is this 2.2.52?

2.2.54?

Nope 2.2.54 STILL doesn’t load sends. They just don’t work.

But when I manually make them again, they’re there. But the existing ones are dead and don’t function at all.

Fk sake Steinberg, do better. This is stressing the hell out of me with my show only 3 weeks away.

It’s so untrustworthy to use live currently.

But still showing the right SENDs just they doesn’t sound?

What? Could you provide a .vlprj file? Or, a step-by-step repro?

We couldn’t find any more related problems since version 2.2.54.

Hey there. I’m happy to do a quick video and show you if that would help.

prooving does not help, we do believe you, only if it shows how to reproduce. Project file (no need for audio etc) would help more, but of course up to you, thanks.

Who said anything about proving it? The video is to demonstrate clearly the issue so it can be resolved dor everyone.

But a faulty working project file might help to reveal the problem in the code.
