It’s finally Friday — and a new Pre-Release 2.2.65 is now available for download!
This update fixes various issues and adds several workflow improvements:
App: LRC Import
– The LRC format for lyric files is now supported.
Tracks: Improved Lyric Clip Drawing and Editing
– Lyric Events are now stored in Clips, making them easier to edit.
– Clip drawing has also been improved.
I too was expecting this to work on vstlive internal controls like mute, inserts sends enable/disable etc. Wold be very useful!
NB: Lyrics in clips, luckily old project with lyrics are loaded good. I noticed however that:
dragging clip end to hide lyrics, does not reflect in hidden lyrics not showing in lyrics view
dragging clip start to hide lyrics, result in lyrics moving instead of hiding
Drawing a new empty clip not possible
Split a clip in two works and you can move independently the clips and it reflects in lyrics view (however original clip still have the cut portion hidden but visible in lyrics so they overlaps).
And … the lyrics in track view … it’s not exactly pretty, all overlapping in far zooms .. i would prefer text as it is now in zoomed in view, and something like CC or DMX points when zoomed out just to see where are the lyrics start points located, zoomed out is not necessary to read text!
Another issue here is that in de “Notes” modules, all sentences/textlines after the first one cannot be edited anymore. Nothing happens when you doubleclick or rightmouse-button on a sentence!
And yes - cannot edit in Lyrics page using doubleclick on text. But this is only in new project. Lyrics in old projects can be edited as before. Once the new project is saved and reopened, lyrics rows can be edited normally.
Also selection does wrong. Clicking on one row, then on another without holding Ctrl selects both. Unselect (clicking in empty area) don’t work unless I draw rectangle in empty area.
I’m also unable to edit text here under Windows 11.
German umlauts “ä Ä,” “ü Ü,” “ö Ö” are also not supported. The spelling of “ß” is also not supported.
Overall - nice! My big project is loading faster. Preload performs much faster. Thank you very much!!
But one little thing that still hurts - On/Off isn’t on all available parameters in Automation editor. For example - Send enable still have numeric value. (S1 Enable in pic)
If I select Chorus for automation like @Spork did, I cannot select Temposync. The only mapping I have on any selected plugin is the same as if I selected track itself (Volume, Pan, Mute, Send enable…), not a plugin with all its available parameters.
EDIT: After restarting computer I can access the parameters of plugins and On/Off switching works like a charm. Now the same could be nice to have on all Mixer parameters (on/off), not only those of plugins
I still need to investigate, but compared CPU usage and temperatures between .66 and .57 (my last stable goto version for live) i see more CPU usage (little cpu dropouts in intese parts that wasn0t there in 57) and warmer CPU. Reverted to .57 same project and it0s better.
Tonight i have a gig…. maybe i’ll do it with 57 to be sure … but i’ll investigate further. For a fact, my projet IS very heavy at this point so a good reference for performance.
I’m sure it’s a halfway and we see how VL is transforming into a better him.
It would be nice to draw a clip and doubleclick on it and have the same small dialogbox and enter one lyrics row and do the same for each row. Of course with a possibility to merge selected clips like in Cubase.
Very often I have more CPU usage with dropouts right after installation and it changes after restarting computer.
oh, yes. It was not possible to create a Lyrics-Clip with the Draw-Tool. It has been fixed and pushed to the next Pre-Release (2.2.67). Give it a try.
At the moment a double click opens the LYRICS View. I guess you will expect a Lyrics-Editor in the lower Zone? Let us think a while about it. Any suggestions or wishes are very welcome.
The Glue-Tool is already working for Lyrics-Events.
