VST Live - Sending RPN to a MIDI Device

How do I send RPN’s (for example Course Tuning change) to a MIDI keyboard from VST Live?

E.g.: Midi note/cc?

I want to send commands to change keys (transpose) to my keyboard when I change songs.

Okay. You can do it several ways, but can’t decide Which will be the right one for your needs.

You can send cc and sysex from Layers
Can send note on/off , cc , prgch from midi track

Thanks for that. I did get that far, however I am trying to send sysex commands to a yamaha keyboard, but have not figured out the proper format that the layer sysex is looking for. More to the point how to convert Yamaha’s format to Hex. (I believe that is what the Layer sysex is looking for)??

LAYER will send the SYSEX as it is, won’t bother about the information… you can even send out “Hello World” string using SysEx.

This field is for sending SysEx via Layer (double click to open):

I get this message not matter what I send. I tried “Hello World” and valid Hex data.

You can send “Hello world” but in sysex format for sure .

If you can’t format your sysex message, are you sure you need to send sysex and a prg ch or cc wont be enough in that case maybe? I’m sorry but dont know what your synth needs

Maybe this can’t be done from VST. I want to change the tuning on the keyboard from A=440 to A=443 for example.

Apparently Yamaha do have sysex messages to control “coarse tuning”, among other things. Seems to vary by keyboard so you’ll have to dig into the manual.
There are many discussions but maybe this’ll help

Thanks for the info, it was helpful getting the correct format, but I still haven’t figured out how to get it to make key changes. I will keep at it.
