What I need to do is to program 6 to 12 LED bars changing colors and turning off and on in sync with the music.

Yes this is easily doable also by writing manually all channels, I programmed this way a couple of led bars and 4 motorized beams (if they have a humane number of channels to control them, some rgb led bars like @fkalmus ones have hundreds of channels to control them, in this case you’ll be better to program them or hire a light engineer to program for you in an external software, and then record the result via artnet on VSTLive. Once you defined a dozen of event clips with transitions and colors for each ledbar you can then copy paste the event clips where needed for each song and they’ll be in sync with the song tempo.

For that, if you keep it simple, there are also a view plug-ins for the DMX-track. Maybe they are sufficient for your needs.
