VST2 Hosting

Hi,

I feel like this question has been asked before but i could not find a clear answer.

I am a licensed VST3 developer, which allows me to build and host VST3 plugins. I am currently creating a VST3 plugin that is hosting other plugins. I would like to also host VST2 plugins, but reading the VST3 license agreement, i am not allowed to.

What is the solution for this and what is Steinberg’s position in this? Is it not allowed at all to create hosts for VST2 if you are not licensed to create VST2 plugins?

The VST2 License was for plugins and hosts. If you do not have a VST2 license, you are not able to publish a VST2 host.

Is there any workaround for this?

I understand the reasons behind the restrictions when it comes to publishing VST2 plugins. But i feel like supporting VST2 plugins in host applications should be possible to maintain compatibility.
Simply to ensure that older plugins that are not ported to VST3 remain usable.
