VST2 plugins - where to copy .dll's?

Just watching How to whitelist VST2 instruments for use in Dorico (How to Whitelist VST2 Instruments for Use in Dorico | Play Mode in Dorico - YouTube), which seems clear enough.

However, to date I have only used VST instruments (other than Dorico’s Halion) within my old Cubase 7.5, which allows one to navigate anywhere within one’s C: drive to locate and add any of the plugins one has.

For Dorico, I’m not sure into which Windows directory I should copy my VST2 plugin .dll’s. Currently, I have some of them in C:\Program Files\VST plugins, others in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\Shared Components, others in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\Shared Components\VST2, and still others within the C:\Program Files\VST Plugins folders for each specific plugin.

Thanks, in advance, for any help you’d care to offer!

For VST2s is doesn’t matter where they are, so long as you specify the path in Preferences>VST Plug-ins>VST2 Plug-in paths.

Thanks, Janus!

And I now see that it allows multiple paths, which is very helpful.

It also lists those VST2 plugins that are currently “blocked”, for which I assume I should follow the instructions in How to Whitelist VST2 Instruments for Use in Dorico | Play Mode in Dorico - YouTube.

Yes. And you should block any that you will not be using, so Dorico does not spend time and effort communicating with them!
