Hello everyone
I installed a third party plugin and they are not showing up in Plugin Manager window. So I wanted to add them manually but there is no VTS3 tab in plugin manager, only VTS2 tab. I can’t add the VTS3 to the VTS2 tab, correct? So how do I load them into Cubase? It’s my first time installing 3rd party plugins so I don’t know how to do this. I’m on Cubase pro 14 free trial. Thanks for help!
Hello and welcome.
The plugin manager does not have a VST3 or VST2 tab. There are only tabs for effects and instruments.
A VST3 plugin should have an installer. It needs to get installed properly to the correct folder on the hard drive. Which plugin do you try to install? Does it have an installer?
If you want to use a 3rd party VST plug-ins
- make sure that Cubase is not running
- install the plug-in according to the documentation of the plug-in vendor
- start Cubase
- the plug-in should automatically be available inside of Cubase
Please note that Steinberg does not support VST2 plug-ins anymore and as a new user you should try to avoid this old plug-in format from the beginning.
Thank you I didn’t know Cubase had to not be running. I closed it, reinstalled the plugins again and now they’re showing up
If Cubase is running, you can force a rescan after the installation. This works for some plugins, but not for all. So, to close Cubase first is the save way.
