Want to keep notes modally

Okay, another question. I goofed! I noteset a hymn arrangement–and realized after I was done that it had the incorrect key signature. It’s written in F Major, but I need it to be in G Major. When I correct the key signature, it transposes the whole thing–but I don’t want it transposed. I would like the notes to be left where they are modally–is there any way to do that? Thanks!

Hi @robison_p13, if you just apply a new key signature, the original notes stay exactly where they are (with added accidentals if necessary). How did you corrected the key signature? Can you provide an example of the original situation?

To transpose music from F major to G major, use the Write > Transpose dialog. Make sure the initial key signature is selected if you want to transpose the key signature as well as the notes (or if you’re transposing a whole flow, you don’t need to select anything at all).

Adding a new key signature only does that: adds the key signature marking. The fundamental pitches of the subsequent music are unchanged: B flats remain B flats, for example.

Select all. shift-I Bb=B, F=F# Enter. Change your key signature.

If you don’t want any accidentals, just select the notes and move them up one step and down one step again! (Alt Up, Down).

Thank you so much! That did it.

And that corrected the accidentals–thank you!
