Hi there,
New user - first poster here.
I imported a .WAV-file on my computer (through USB from BOSS RC-300).
Then imported it in Cubase LE AI Elements 13 on a new track.
It plays ‘silently’ and the Waveform of the track is barely visible,
even at maximum zoom.
When I hook up the RC-300 straight to my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen it records decently. What could be the issue with the imported .WAV?
Thanks in advance!
Robin
Hi,
It looks like the signal has been recorded very soft. You have to increase the Gain, while recording.
Now, you can increase the Gain in the Info Line (when the Audio Event is selected), but of course, you will increase also the background noise.
Thank you Martin, am I right in assuming that by using the focusrite some extra gain was added, to make it more of an audible level?

Hi,
Yes. While recording, you have to set the input Gain (if the source is not a line input). It seems, you set it correctly on Focusrite, but you didn’t set it correctly while recording on RC-300.
But even then, if you re-record it from RC-300 via Focusrite (and you set the Gain properly), you are increasing the background noise (moreover you are adding some noise on top by the other device). In this case, it’s better to import the file and increase the Gain in Info Line of Cubase.

Thank you Martin, that was the answer I was looking for!
