Waveform variations between FLAC and MP3

When comparing the waveform of an MP3 file that has been converted from a FLAC file, I notice that the waveform for the MP3 file varies very slightly from that of the FLAC file. My questions are:

(1) Do these very small variations occur because of some inconsistency in the way that Wavelab renders the waveform of a file that is the product of a conversion from a source file encoded in a different coding format?
(2) Do these very small variations occur because of some inaccuracy in the format conversion process itself?

Thanks for any assistance.

FLAC is a lossless format.
MP3 is a lossy format.
Hence this is normal to see differences.

Nevermind. I was working in haste and confused myself by conflating the issue of the audibility of differences (at 320 kbps for an MP3) with that of the waveform rendering. Thanks, anyway.
