I read somewhere that you should update to WL-10.0.30. But I’m already on 10.0.70

If the drive is used by another software, it could be blocked from use in older Wavelab versions.
Sometimes the explorer blocked it. Very rare, but it sometimes happened to me as well.

Are you using an external USB-CDDVD? If yes, then WL is indeed finicky with how (if) it recognises it. As already mentioned, some drives don’t show themselves to the system before a disc is inserted, and if the OS has already grabbed the drive, WL won’t see it. My drive (a Samsung), also doesn’t play nice with USB3 ports (in WL), I have to use one of the USB2 ones. Trial and error…
