Wavelab 8.5 capable of rendering surround AAC/MP3?

This is a big question that is sadly not answered in the manual.

Come to think of it, the inclusion of the Fraunhofer ProCodec “generic system” is overall cut short in terms of documentation. I’m still on 8.0, and this is scaring me off a bit.

Then again, my main question would be:
Is it possible to export (from the audio montage) to 5.1 WAV/AAC/MP3 by now?
Or is Wavelab still limited to 2.0?

If the latter? Is it planned for WL9?
Or do I need to invest 400EUR + VAT for the ProCodec plugin by Sonnox and use it with Cubase?

Thanks in advance.

(I’m all ears for open source alternatives - I tried some, but they’re all frustrating and don’t work)

mp3 5.1 export is not yet supported.
Yes, it could happen for WaveLab 9.

What about AAC export?
Or 6ch to 8ch WAV files?

What about the age long FR to loading 6ch WAV files directly (from Nuendo/Cubase)?

If this will be ported in WL9, I’m definitely holding back to upgrade.

(also in hope that my FR might be ported for the Analyzing module in the batch processor also drops RMS values, not only EBU R-128 ones)

more multi channel support is planned for WaveLab 9, but the final specs are not yet known.

What do you mean here?

At least an ETA?
Else I assume that the cycle is now like Cubase (one paid upgrade a year).
