Wavelab Elements 12 - can't auto-remove peak files (.gpk) for longer WAVs

I unchecked “Save View Settings with Each Audio File” in preferences. Short WAV files don’t produce a .gpk file, but longer files, like 2 min and up, still produce one.

Is this a bug? I can’t stand cluttering up my folders with these ugly files. Also, I’d like to avoid designating a separate folder for them because they take up a surprising amount of disk space.

Any advice?

The setting you mention is not about peak file.
Only WaveLab Pro has this option:
“Delete Peak Files When Closing Audio Files”
