Weird "Delay" in Effects Channel (EW Spaces)

I created a few effects return channels for an orchestra score. It’s part of my orchestral template and I loaded EW Spaces II in there for various instruments. Sometimes I can hear a weird “delay” when playing an instrument live. As soon as I go into the effects return channel and activate/deactivate the spaces plugin, the delay is gone. It is really faint and almost not noticeable, but it’s there. This happens to any return effect I made.

Is this an issue with Nuendo? Because before I stepped over to Nuendo from Cubase 13, I did not hear these weird delay sounds.

My theory is that it could just have to do with the audio buffer. Because as soon as I make adjustments to the effect, the delay is gone.

Does anyone have similar issues?

Are you saying this only happens with Spaces II, or with any effect? I have been having an issue with SPACES II in 13 where there is a second delay happening as if I have a slapback echo set. Occasionally, it goes away.

YES, some kind of slapback! Not sure if it is Spaces, I haven’t tested it thorougly yet

Can you make a new track with a different Reverb and do a test? If it is only Spaces we can both report it to EW.

I wasn’t able to replicate it but I’ll let you know if it pops up again!

I think I figured it out! Today I noticed the “delay” like effect again but I remembered I had my buffer set to high because I sometimes set it to 2048 when I want to render stuff faster on my mac - because it does that on macs, don’t ask me why. (there was already a lot of discussion on this haha)

anyway, when I reduced the buffer to 256 or anything lower, the effect was gone. I assume the higher buffer creates a longer delay for either the insert chain or the plugin. not sure if this is a bug. and it won’t be noticeable as soon as you do your render because in the render-pipeline, the timing is just perfectly adjusted.

so problem solved - for me at least :stuck_out_tongue:
