I need to get rid of the “1” at the end of the staff label name. The picture shows an example of what I’m talking about. This is happening in the 2nd and 3rd clarinets and trumpets, and 1st and 2nd altos and trombones. Any suggestions on how to remove the one from the staff label will be great! This is the last thing that I need to do in order for my project to be finished!

Hi @dakota95, from your screenshot is not clear what is your Players/Instruments setup. But generally, Dorico numbers automatically the instrument in case the same instrument appears more than once in your Setup. To avoid the numbering you can put one player that holds one of the recurring instruments in a group.
Here a little demonstration (you can deactivate the display of groups in Layout Options/Staves and Systems:
I added my file in my original post.
@dakota95
And here your project with the suggested changes applied (added groups, and disabled Layout Option):
Carry On Wayward Son-CORRECTED WITH GROUPS.dorico (2.6 MB)
But how did you do this?
Just select the players that are shown in the red squares on my screenshot (they already don’t show the extra numbers because they are already inside groups in the screenshot), and click the group icon (on the lower left part of the Setup window):
And the mentioned Layout Option is this:
OT. It seems to me you have grossly overcomplicated this project.
You could have simply set up three clarinets and used condensing to condense just 2&3.
And done the same for the other instruments. Dorico would have sorted out all your numbering and created the correct parts for you.
Condensing doesn’t work with how I want the staff labels. I’ve tried that, and there’s no way for the staff labels to be like I need them to be.
That fixed it! Thanks so much!
You are welcome @dakota95
P.S.
I also noticed, as @Janus observed, your quite unusual setup, due to your desired staff labelings…Your workaround is indeed a very ingenuous solution to your staff labelling wishes (even if a little error prone, and also causing overrides in the First page templates).
It will be, for me or others, a good exercise in Dorico, to try to obtain a result possibly similar to the one you have (for the custom labelings), without using workarounds, or “dead/duplicated” players (that do not appear in the full score, but only originate parts, in your example), and trying to obtain what you describe using condensing and other functionalities. It could also be a good example for possible future needs/improvements in the flexibility of Dorico’s staff labelling.
