Weird transformer bug in Cubase 15: Event Target Filters don’t stay saved

I discovered a very strange bug in the Transformer of Cubase 15.

Please take a look at the following Transformer setup I made for “snare roll” programming.

Anyone who has programmed drums before probably knows what this is meant to do. In short, this Transformer lets me trigger the snare drum (normally assigned to D1 in a standard GM layout) also from E1, making fast snare rolls easier to play.

At first, when I create this setup, it works exactly as intended. However, once I save the transformer preset or duplicate the MIDI track, the Event Target Filters settings no longer stay correct!

In this corrupted state, instead of triggering D1 from E1, it somehow tries to trigger D1 from G8 — which obviously makes no sense.

It’s as if some little ghost went in and secretly changed my Transformer settings! :ghost:

I hope this issue can be addressed in a future update.

Hi,

This is a known and already reported issue, which is going to be fixed in the 1st maintenance update.

I’ve installed the newly released Cubase 15.0.06 (the 1st maintenance update), and it looks like this issue still isn’t fixed yet, right? I rely on this feature a lot, so I really hope it gets addressed soon…

Hi,

You are right. Cubase 15.0.6 was a hotfix, not a maintenance release. Thank you for your patience.

I see — so a hotfix is an update released before a maintenance update. I guess I was a bit mixed up about that…

I’m looking forward to the upcoming update. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Hi,

Steinberg marks the maintenance updates with .X0 (i.e. .10, .20, .30, …). Anything in between is a hotfix.

I’m seeing the same problem. I have a keyboard splitter/filter that ignores MIDI below F3 and it now defaults to G8. I’ve installed the 15.0.6 update and the bug is still there.

Unfortunately the x.0.10 update that Martin hinted at is not released yet. Let’s keep fingers crossed that it’ll come out soon and that it’ll include the bugfix.

Hi, please fix this problem soon.

Seeing the responses really shows how common this function is.

I use this Transformer not only for drums, but also for strings and brass, mainly when playing octave-unison parts, while keeping key switches disabled.

This bug definitely has an impact on composers’ productivity.
