The clickable areas are still at the original size and position, so I have to move the pointer blindly until the mouseover style change shows me where I am. A similar issue occurs in the main project window where the opposite is happening, i. e. the UI is too large (about twice the size) and is only partially visible. I don’t have a screenshot of that at the moment.
OK, I could reproduce the second issue when disconnecting my external monitor while having Dorico in full screen mode, forcing it to move to the internal laptop monitor. And it doesn’t resolve itself if I exit full screen mode.
It happens to me when I work with secondary monitors, so I have to move the window between monitors and the error disappears. I’m also using a MacBook.
We are aware of this problem. It’s a bug in the underlying Qt framework, but as yet we’ve been unable to reproduce it in a minimal application, which means we can’t easily report it to the Qt developers in a form that will allow them to easily investigate it.
I can reproduce this consistently when unplugging my HP w2408h monitor from my MacBook, forcing the Dorico window to the internal display. I’ve added a screen recoding of the laptop monitor when this happens.
@VIPStephan, Daniel has already explained that this is a known problem with QT. What purpose is served by your post? I doubt the QT engineers are monitoring this forum.
Actually, one of them does visit from time to time! But the issue is not ease of reproduction with Dorico itself – we can do that easily enough. However, in order to investigate the problem, the Qt engineers request that we submit a small, self-contained project that exhibits the problem. So far we have not been able to reproduce the problem in a trivial project, and it’s not possible for us to submit the source code for Dorico to the Qt engineers in order to ask them to reproduce the problem! So until they either fix the problem spontaneously or we can find the time (remembering that we have only a handful of engineers working on Dorico, and any time they spend working on writing an application that reproduces this problem for the Qt engineers is time they cannot spend working on improvements to Dorico itself) I’m afraid this problem is likely to persist.
Welcome to the forum, Barry. I’ve not heard of this problem affecting Windows users. I suspect something different is probably going on. I assume you are using two different display scaling values for your two displays?
First: thanks for the beautiful program; it’s a gift to composers. Seems like everyday I laugh to myself in mind-blown appreciation or say “yessssss” under my breath.
I am having this issue, too. It’s a bit frustrating as I use a Dell P-Series monitor in vertical orientation to view a large ensemble score. I size the window then switch to Play Mode and investigate my samples. When I switch back to Write Mode, the window has resized for me and I can no longer see the popover menu. I must then move the window to a separate monitor to engage with the popover menus. When it’s in a different screen I can go to Setup Mode to resize it, but mystically when I switch to write mode it pops right back (without having gone back into Play Mode). See two screenshots for comparison. If there is a way for me to fix this please let me know.
Try right-clicking on the status bar at the bottom of the window and de-selecting one or two of the different types of information that appear there. If the status bar shows less information, the window won’t be forced to be so wide.
