This is a follow-up with my original thread here (#918862 now closed) which I oddly can’t link to in this forum?
I’ve outlined what I think IS included with my Cubase Pro 13 purchase and what is NOT included (see image):
I do NOT want to install anything that is NOT part of my Cubase Pro 13 install (sorry for the double negative), so would really appreciate any confirmation/response.
Cheers, Rob.
Everything you have under the Cubase 13 Pro icon should be included. Once you step out of that (unless it is one of the free vst items) you have to pay extra:
Just be very clear, if I select the “Install All” button at the top when I have Cubase group selected, it will ONLY install those items that are part of cubase?
The “Install All” button will NOT install other grouped items like say Dorico that are also green and checked?
So the “Install All” button ONLY applies to the current group selected?
FYI, I have read thru available documentation for the Download Assistant and there is no mention of what the Install All button does … if it’s group specific or just installs everything regardless of my purchase/license?
Correct, it installs what the group shows.

Thanks for clarification. I did end up installing them one by one to be safe.
Cubase is working great, actually easier to get upto speed vs DP11. Just need to figure out where I can set track audio channel output for my ASIO Motu Gen 5 .
Perfect thanks … really liking Cubase 13. Only very minor complaint is the UI (User Interface) does look very dated, almost Windows 3.1 ish
I assume Cubase 13 is on a huge discount right now because 14 is coming out soon? If so, hoping 14 has a more appealing UI with color theme’s.
You can alter the colors more suitable to your lighting situation and personal tastes…
Edit/Preferences/User Interface…

Umm…13 isn’t that old, but the UI is new. I - like many others - weren’t crazy about the new look, but I’ve gotten used to it. Anyway, when 14 launches, don’t expect a different UI.
Oh wow you’re correct … Nov 2023 was version 13 … dang, didn’t think development teams were still producing UIs like this in 2023.
Checking release history looks like about 16 month cycle for major version updates. I have no idea what will be in 14 so have no expectations and zero inside information (I take you’re a Beta tester?) … heck I haven’t used 13 long enough to formulate expectations.
I was just noting that the UI looks VERY dated (or retro if you prefer) but the core product works well and so far I like the UI layout and flow.
The ‘Flat’ GUI is supposed to be ‘new’. It’s what the kids are used to seeing with their iPhones and stuff. People (or bots) got on here daily and slammed the ‘old fashioned’ 3d/Semi Transparent/Graduated Colors/Etc from Windows of yesteryear (Areo?). Modern is flat! (they said). It should look/feel like the handheld devices (they demanded). Don’t waste a single byte or GPU/CPU tick on things like 3d, shading, graduated/rounded frames, etc. The crits were brutal, demanding Steinberg ‘get modern’ and ditch the ‘toy look’. Seems like the same accounts complain about the GUI no matter what is tried
I don’t really mind a flat GUI once I get used to it, but I’ll always miss Areo. Granted I haven’t seen it trying to work on the massive flat screen panels available these days, but I remember it looking really nice and being easy on my eyes from 4 to 6 ft away.
I do like how Cubase 13 allows you get at more things from the same screen. Info, options, and controls are packed in there (I.E. the track inspector is a good 3 times more busy/capable than older versions), and can get a bit crowded on a smaller screen (Most of the newer extra elements can be removed if you have a smaller screen. Go back to the old way of tapping a hot-key for a pop-up and all).
If you like to spread stuff out over several monitors it can be pretty nice.
It can stand a few fixes (colors and font choices) for better visibility, and I’m sure they’ll come. Like with nearly every major ‘change’, it takes ‘getting used to’. Once people get used to it, if anything changes, they’ll be back here in the forums yelling, “I want my old Cubase 13 GUI back!”.
Agree, UI is certainly not a road block to productivity. I use a 4K and a 3440 x 1440 monitor. I do like the tabbed groups.
Drop shadows or glow highlights for any relatively modern GPU within the past 10 years is not a problem in terms of performance and has next to no CPU impact as it’s all handled by the GPU.
Flat works fine, but does need a good color combination and separator placement/color. Theme’d sets would be a good way to go. I’m a software engineer and many control suites come with theme’d color sets built into the control suite (Telerik comes to mind) … even for the C++ WinUI 3 projects (almost certain this is a C++ code base). Anyway, I digress … didn’t mean to turn this into a Cubase UI discussion. It works so no real complaints.

This was super easy to configure, many thanks for link. Got ADAT, 5.1, 7.1, 7.4.1, headphones, analog ins/outs (mics, other synths, instruments, front, rear, side, center, top etc.) all setup and it was easy to assign for each track, very nice!!
I’m definitely digging Cubase 13 and a lot easier to work with than DP11.
Cheers, Rob.
