What function do I need for trigger pads?

I have a basic LPD8 with 8 velocity sensitive pads. In midi remote the pads are being detected correctly. My problem is what function from the massive list do I need so I can trigger various samples in my VST instruments? I know it is CC data but I have searched all over I cannot see anything suitable.

Maybe I haven’t understood your inquiry, but why CC Data ? To trigger a sound, I would rather use the Notes as Message setting instead :
