What is the ideal way to handle different types divisi on vocal scores?

I’m going to need to import a large score from Finale into Dorico and want to set myself up for success. It’s a choral piece, and there are many instances of divisi. The four measures below are one such example. Below, the basses show all three. In measure 10 there is basically one line and one set of lyrics. In measure 11-12 the parts appear in two voices (“layers” in Finale-lingo), and in measure 13 they are “stemmed” together because they are rhythmically identical. Sometimes the lyrics go only at the bottom; other times it is necessary to put some lyrics above to make them line up with the lyrics. There are also times when it would be simpler to break the voices up B1/B2 on two different staves.

What is the ideal process for importing music like this that results in the minimum amount of reworking in Dorico?

Maybe it’s not the

but my suggestion is to create the entire choir as a divisi of a single ensemble player “Voice”.
The first time I did that I looked for an option to have a single staff label “Choir” without the SATB annotations.

The benefit is you can split the voices in any divisi you like
