What is the Program Change option included in the List Editor feature of Cubase 14?

Hello everyone.

I uploaded a picture related to my question, but I’m not sure if you can see it.

As the title says, I would like to know what the Program Change function at the top of the List Editor menu is among the functions of Cubase14.

How does this function work? In what cases can I use this function?

I am a software salesperson and I am asking because a customer asked me this question.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could answer.

Hi,

You can quickly show/hide some MIDI Message types. For example all Notes, Controllers or Program Changes. This is, what is the option good for.

I used program change a lot when I had hardware synths. You could put in a value which would then change the patch on the synth. In list editor you get the option to hide different things. Program change is one of them.

In what cases can the ‘Program Change’ you mentioned in the comments appear? Is it a function that displays the corresponding log records when changing VST or plugins?

Hi,

Program Change is used in the synths to change the program/sound.

If you are using virtual instruments, most often, you don’t use this MIDI Message.

Thank you very much for your reply! I understood your answer as ‘a function displayed when sending a MIDI signal to Synth’.

Thank you very much for your reply. If you have time, please check out my other comments below!

Just to clarify: the term “Program Change” is defined by the MIDI specification. MIDI is an abbreviation for Musical Instruments Digital Interface and Cubase supports the MIDI spec. Thus the usage of this term.
What you’ve marked on your screenshot is in essence the switch to filter any “Program Change” MIDI messages from being displayed in this editor.
The other items in the same line with check boxes, like “Aftertouch” or “PitchBend” are also filter switches, just for other types of MIDI messages.
