What is this free product named X-stream on Steinberg site?

Just here, last in page

Can be activated but not found in download assistant ?

I think it’s something for future release that they accidentally posted early.

It’s ready to activate in my SAM. I just want to know what it is first  .

Does not appear in the SDA as my email states it should.

Strange.

I have no idea what it is, but I need it  !

It looks like the Spectral Synth section of Halion on top, and the bottom mod section is layed out like Backbone or FM Lab. Should be fun for modifying .wav files.

I have similar to you - it shows in activation manager, but not in downloads.

I guess they really jumped the gun. The email says to download Hal. Sonic 7.1 and run x-stream from within that.
But 7.1 isn’t in the download section yet either.

Shouldn’t be too much longer, I think …

Curious to see what the update brings.

Edit - they made the video private. I guess it’s not ready yet.

Updated Halion Sonic to 7.1. Went to the website and clicked on X-Stream on the free VST page. Ran the Activation Manager, and X-Stream shows as activated. Ran the Download Assistant, but can’t find anywhere to download X-Stream.

What am I missing?

Well, well…
One more time one of my threads is marked with a solution by a moderator.
But I think that’s not THE solution.
Problem is : why Steinberg web site publishes incomplete information, why do we receive emails with 404 links and non authorized access videos ?
Why don’t they wait to have the full chain filled and working before publishing.
Not a great job… as marking my thread with a partial solution.
Quality is going down.

If you got a chance to see the video before they pulled it, it really did answer the question of ‘what is x-stream’.

Only problem is that it’s not there. Kind of unusual for Steinberg to play the teaser/leak game. They’re usually right on the ball.
All I can think of is that they might have hit some unexpected snag.

The Halion/Sonic update is good to go though.

To me it looks more like a normal, if unwanted, human screw-up than an intentional teaser campaign. Blame it on an intern, or the product manager being out sick…

EDIT:
Maybe this needed to happen first
https://forums.steinberg.net/t/halion-7-1-and-halion-sonic-7-1-update/921386/2

It did need to happen, yes. Updating Halion Sonic to 7.1 and restarting the Download Manager makes X-Stream available.

While I cannot find X-Stream on Steinberg’s page at the moment, it has been officially released just now! Here is the link for obtaining the license:
New: Free X-Stream Spectral Synthesizer | Steinberg
And the above mentioned demo video is publicly available again.

Yes, it was indeed an accident that X-Stream appeared before the official launch on the free VST article. Congratulations also to the investigative team finding afterwards the unlisted YouTube videos  But we had to wait until HALion 7.1 and HALion Sonic 7.1 was published, yesterday. Anyway, I hope you can enjoy this new free instrument now.

Actually, there was an automatic email sent after requesting a license for X-Stream which contained the link to the video. So, not much investigation was necessary. :grinning:

Oh okay even that was working already. Thanks for resolving that “mystery”.

This plugin has won my heart, the sounds are incredible! Keep up the good work.! Thank you.

You have to overwrite the down of the Steinberg Download Assistant. In my first attempt the X-Stream folder appeared in my download assistant but I can’t find the download folder. When I downloaded the Steinberg Download Assistant in my steinberg account. The download folder appeared above the Halion Sonic 7.1.

To end this, thank you for the free Instrument Steinberg.
