What would you like to see in Cubase 15?

Stem Seperation mit mehr als 4 Spuren

I’ve barely used the notepad because I tend to forget that I used it in the first place.
If there was some sort of indicator that I made notes on a track or on the project I would reconsider notepads as an option. Of course, this should be optional - I’m sure not everyone would appreciate a “notepad has content” sign with respect to limited real estate.

Yes what I envision, if it were up to me of course, would be a lower zone project notepad split screen track notepad. Perhaps a 2:1 ratio where the track notepad changes with track selection. I find it would be an excellent tool for songwriters, composers, and engineers alike.

  • The ability to move insert from one slot to another over selected channels
  • Changing track inputs without having to set them up in Audio Connections
  • Touch automation that doesn’t need a point set at the beginning and end of a track
  • Folder tracks that allow routing
  • Per track RMS and LUFS metering
  • The ability to use multi-mono plugins w/o workarounds
  • Display of automation values on the track

Indicator, yes that should be included in an option.

The impression I get which is based on general screen shots and videos, is that most users keep the track width too narrow therefore track notepad isnt even an option unless its used with workspaces or lots of scrolling.

I like the Notepad Ideas.

There needs to be a Project notepad of course but something for individual tracks, that does display as content would be great however it was once mentioned that the same should be the case for notation data, and this should be displayable in parts, rather than in an editor only.

Doesn’t that already work? Hmm… maybe you have to use QLink.

Yes that’s it! - thanks for clarifying.

I’m just not sure how re-defining a background colour from one shape to another is a feature that affects anything else, but I’m no dev. Anyway, I’m pretty sure Steinberg know about the issues, so we just have to wait to see if they adjust it - or even better give us ALL skin choices like Reaper so we can have blush pink or heavy metal gun metal as we prefer as individual artists. That can’t not be the best solution if its possible. I’ll back out now! - thanks for all the comments on this from you all.

This thread has some great UI ideas but it is all over the place in terms of a topic.

Maybe someone can start a UI thread, covering a few specific areas, some I have seen lately, are:

  • Pool
  • Mixer
  • Inspector

If there are colouration issues, or else labels that are difficult to read, then a NEW thread needs to be created addressing those specific problem(s), in parlance to how a bug report needs to be created.

Just for the record - I was sent a link to this particular page. by Steinberg support who said I should post my concern here. I didn’t navigate to it myself. Anyway I’m done! Cheers, and thanks for the interest.

I didn’t word this very well… What I meant is for us to be able move inserts across slots on selected channels. As in, move inserts in slot 1 to slot 2 across channels.

Maybe add some programmable macro or key command buttons here, or in the toolbar above. Since Cubase offers so many useful shortcuts, it would be great to have the option to assign a few of them to on-screen buttons for quick mouse access.

Better support for MacOS/Trackpad Users

  • Two-finger scroll:

Enable scrolling in the Mix Console in the same way as it is possible in the event display and the key editor.

  • Pinch-gesture:

Enable Zooming in the Key Editor (without the need of pressing an additional button on the keyboard).

ToolButtons

Allow the users to reorder them.

Live Chord Display
Provide a “Live Chord Display” that shows live the chord being played on the midi keyboard.

Expression Maps
Expression Map Editor: improvements in the UI - the creation must be simpler, more intuitive and more intelligent

Rather utopic whishes:

  • Develop a new standard like ARA2 but for MIDI-Tracks (if it make sense for you). Call it MRA = Midi Random Access. (You can hire me for this

  • Use generative AI techniques at various points to facilitate the workflow and spark inspiration.

I think Greg from Club Cubase said it numerous times that no AI will be implemented to write music on behalf of the musician. That’s what you are asking for , in essence, sparking inspiration means asking the machine to give you options so that you can choose one, or rip it off.

So use a send instead of an insert like people have been doing since consoles were invented.

Why would anybody want to reorder the tools, people use key commands to change them, there are also companies that make shortcut keyboards. I don’t see that being better for workflow, if you can’t remember a few simple key commands, 1 through 9 then I don’t know what to tell you.

@Wickham_Sky
If I may give a possible justification : you can rearrange the order of tools via key commands - something that I did for the sake of reachability regarding the most used tools. This new order is not reflected visually in the toolbar. If I am not mistaken - it isn’t by default anymore, too, due to a mixup in one of the latest Cubase versions.

well that’s the whole point.. I would prefer a knob instead of using a send for every plugin I add
a send to fx channel is more useful for a specific use case and combination of vsts, however less for just mixing the dry into the wet for only one plugin (via fx channel)..

I still want presets for external FX and Instruments so I don’t have to manually reset connections when switching audio interfaces.
