I have a technical question about formatting and also just curious about people’s opinions and advice.
I’m trying to get rid of the flow title on a page and I can’t seem to get it to go away without adding an override to the page. I went into the part template and got rid of the flow box, but it’s still showing up when I go back to the part. I’m attaching a screen shot of the first page template for default part, when I click apply and go back to the part the flow title is still there. What am I missing here?
I am actually able to remove it if I delete it in engrave mode, but I’m confused why editing the template isn’t effecting the part, and that’s also a very tedious solution for when I’m working on bigger arrangements.
My other questions is: do you guys actually use the flow feature? I’ve never found the need for it and I feel like every time I start a new project I have to do a bunch of work to try to get rid of the flow titles. I get that it’s helpful with multi-movement works, but it’s kind of annoying that the default template always includes the flow title. Is there any way to save a template to be my personal default? There’s several things I don’t like about the default template, and I’d like to not have to go in and mess around with the boxes every time.
The flow heading has it’s own little template, under Flow Headings in the RH panel in Engrave mode. If you don’t want to display any flow headings, then go to Layout Options > Page Setup > Flows and set “Show flow headings” to “Never”.
If you want this to be your default for new projects, then you can click the Save as Default button at the bottom of the Layout Options dialog.
All of the Options dialogs have a Save as Default button, and you can save things like paragraph styles as defaults, too. Anything you save as a default will be used when you start a new project.
If you want a template that has more than just settings – for example, if you’re always working with the same instrumentation – then you can save a shell of your current document with File > Save as Project Template.
Here’s more information about custom project templates:
At worst, you have to save your default Layout Options to not show the Flow Heading; and set your Flow Title in Setup mode (or Project Info) to be the same as the Project Title.
I’ll agree that the default page templates ought to be editable and save-able as your defaults, without having to open a project template or import a page template set.
It is possible to export a page template set and have that as your defaults, but it’s a bit hacky. See the discussion here:
