What's the difference: "Output" and "Monitor"

Hi!

Someone kindly advice…

What is the difference between “Stereo Out” bus that is in the “Output” tab of the VST CONNECTIONS window and “Monitor” bus that is in the “Studio” tab of the VST CONNECTIONS.

For some reason, they give a louder sound on the "Monitors/speaker when combined.

Thanks.

Can’t be better explained than in the Operation Manual, pg.173 et seq.
But basically, you can listen to Cubase either by having its Main Stereo Outputs routed directly to your amp/speakers, or by listening to the Control Room, which, normally, takes its input from the Main Stereo outputs also.
So, in normal operation, if you wish to listen via the Control Room (which does have several advantages), you would route the Main Stereo outputs to it, but disable them from also being routed directly to your amp/speakers (by setting them to “Not Connected”, in the Outputs pane of the VST Connections window).
So, if you were listening to the Control Room while also having the Main Stereo outputs connected, your amp/speakers would be receiving the audio twice (hence, louder  )

Wow, you are right!! Thank you very much. I don’t even get the feedback while the speakers are on when the vocalist sings in the same room.

NOW HOW WOULD I ACHIEVE THIS then: MAKING SURE I hear the vocalist sing in real time(while recording)…Please read below before responding…

Status: The 2 monitors are on OUT 1 and 2 (Problem: OUT 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 do NOT release the real time vocalist voice; Only OUT 7 and OUT 8)

Without having to change speaker OUT cables (which are on OUT 1 and 2 of the audio interface) to OUT-7 and OUT-8 on the audio interface, (As mentioned before, OUT 1,2,3,4 and 6 do not allow real time hearing (monitoring) of the vocalist while recording)

HOW WOULD MANIPULATE CUBASE TO SIMPLY HELP ME HEAR THE VOCALIST SING ON MY SPEAKERS WHILE I PLUGGED THEM on OUT 1 and OUT 2, which otherwise do not seem to release the voice of the vocalist on the mic in real time?

I had to download the .pdf of your ESU-1808, to understand what you were talking about!… if I have it right, outputs 7 & 8 of the interface carry direct monitoring of its inputs, via the 3 volume knobs on the front, yes? So, logical that you should rather use, say, outputs 1 & 2.

Here again, presuming that you do have the incoming audio channel record/monitor enabled, I am merely guessing that this depends on the Auto Monitoring Mode, as set in Preferences>VST>“Auto Monitoring”. Experiment with the various options for that. Does one of them solve the issue for you?

Response: I don’t think you have an idea how few sacrificial people like you are…Thank you for every byte you used to download the PDF manual.

Response: THIS ANSWERED MY QUESTION! I CAN’T BELIEVE I KNEW THE FUNCTION OF THE “MONITOR” BUTTON ON THE TRACK BUT NOT USED IT FOR SO LONG IT DID NOT OCCUR TO ME THAT I COULD USE ON AUDIO TRACKS. I SIMPLY CLICKED ON THE ‘MONITOR BUTTON’ ON THE AUDIO TRACK AND I COULD HEAR THE VOCALIST IN REAL TIME!

YOUR PAINS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED!
