Where are global Margin settings, first line indent?

This is probably an easy one but I can’t find how to do this.
I made a few template files that I work from for lead sheets for use on my small iPad. To make the music easier to read the margins are much smaller than for printing. Usually I keep Bb, Eb and other special parts in the same file. All is good until I need to make a special lead sheet or something that requires adding a new layout. This new layout uses the normal margins and settings. Where are these ‘default’ settings?

Hi @mrgullible, if I understand you correctly, you need to apply your Layout Options (with changes of page and music frame margins for example, or whatever) to a new layout.
You can select in Setup mode the layout that has the desired Layout Options changes, right click and choose Propagate Part Formatting, select your source layout (on the left) and your destination layout/s (on the right), then check only Include layout options and click ok.

Here a short video:

There a re other ways (*) to have the same settings on all layouts, but this should give you what you need.

(*)Here other possible ways:

  • selecting all part layouts in the layout options dialogue, before you make the changes

or

  • make the changes on one layout, Save As Default on the lower left of the layout options dialogue, then select all part layout and choose Reset to Saved Default to apply the changes to the selected layouts. Then you can Remove Saved Defaults if you want, and the changes will remain in the layouts.

Thanks, for your valuable suggestions. I didn’t know about the Propagate Part Formatting option. Usually I do this in the Layout Options Dialog as this seems to be the only one that works on parts and scores.

Ok, then you can use the second or third suggested methods, to apply the changes to all layouts (selecting them all: full score and parts).

I figured out that the easiest solution is to just include a correctly formatted part in my template file…
