Where can I find DDP player to provide it to the customer

Thanks for the report. Maybe I’ll write to HOFA about this. I don’t really use Windows so I can’t really speak to this issue.

Thanks Justin. They’ve added a sampling rate warning in the latest versions of Hofa, (like in the Sonoris, according to Rat), so I think they possibly know about this already, but haven’t been able to do anything further about it, or find a solution. But that’s just my assumption. Maybe they haven’t tried a sweep with the default Win 48K playback.

It still doesn’t make sense to me that there wouldn’t be a solution for this though. If it’s ok with WAV why can’t it be made ok with the DDP players?

Shouldn’t the latest update be available to the DDP Player installer by now? The client can’t get the latest version 1.0.20, and the version that is available, 1.0.10, had some issues. The 1.0.20 update really should have been available to the standalone installer on March 1st along with the other updates.

If the standalone DDP Player installers for the client are still only available in the Wavelab Full Installer in the Download Assistant, then nothing’s changed here. The standalone Windows DDP Player installer still only finds the 1.0.10 update during install. It should find the 1.0.30 update.

The Windows DDP Player 1.0.30 now has a warning about only allowing 44.1k playback, and will not work with other rates selected, so I guess the distortion problem at other playback sampling rates has not been solved. That means the player won’t work at all on some Dell Inspiron computers (and possibly others now) that only have 48k playback.

I still don’t understand why this only happens in the DDP Players (and why it’s SO much worse in the Steinberg player than the Hofa and Sonoris). It sounds really stupid, but could it be because Windows SRC doesn’t know what to do with the raw PCM file in the DDP, as opposed to 44.1 WAV files in iTunes and other players outputting 44.1, that play fine at any of the Windows SRC rates without distortion. It really seems like Steinberg or Hofa or Sonoris could find a solution to this, because Dell and Microsoft would say there’s nothing wrong on their end because any of their playback sample rates is fine with all the other players with 44.1 WAV files.

I don’t think I tried 48k or 96k playback on a Mac, so I don’t know if it happens there.
