Where is bar offset?

Squad

I can’t find the baroffset anymore in the newest version of dorico. I’m 6.1

I don’t see it in layout options

Any clues?

Do you mean indents?
Layout options>staves and systems…

Thank you @Janus not quiet. I’m look to have the first 6 measures start at -5 measures. I know it’s possible?

You mean bar numbers?

You cannot have negative bar numbers, but you can have a bar number change to 0 at bar 6
(right-click>bar numbers>bar number change…)

And the first 5 bar numbers could be numbered a - e

Fascinating. When I import from Cubase it displays negative bar numbers. But I can’t make them in Doric?

Indeed, a Dorico file generated from Cubase from a project that has a Time Offset (Bars+Beats) [which generates negative bar numbers in the timeline] shows the negative bar numbers in the score and in Play mode timeline.

Cubase:

Dorico:

One reason why it may not be jet implemented in Dorico (I mean the creation of such negative bars) is because in Cubase the Time Offset is generally used for key switches, or some other information needed before the actual music begins. But Dorico shows the actual music, so it starts from bar 0 (pick-up) or 1. (Those are just my thoughts)
In Dorico the only thing that has some similarity is the playback preroll, which is set in Playback Options>Timing (and is used mostly for grace notes at the beginning of the flow).

For now I will continue to hack away. I’ll make a Cubase file that has the right negative number and just bring it back in to Dorico. I wonder if I can export just the tempo map or something like that. I’ll explore.

Can we add this on the list of things for these team to consider? I’m sure it’ll come soon swing the cubase Dorico closeness.
