Recently updated from 12, and the Root Note setting doesn’t seem to be in the same place in the Expression Map Setup?
I tested the same expression maps in C15, and they work using the articulations in the key editor, but not switching from my iPad. I believe this is due to the wrong root note
Desperately need to find this! Thanks
Below is a screenshot from C12 in the Expression Map Setup
The previous root note setting changed the absolute octave for each remote trigger in every expression map, which meant that users might unadvertedly change other expression maps they didn’t mean to change. We’ve removed this concept entirely, and instead always store the absolute remote trigger value in each expression map.
You can still change the octave of your triggers by right clicking on selected triggers, and using the transpose functionality from there.
Just check which midi values you’re sending from your iPad app, and compare it to the triggers set up in the expression map editor.
As a personal workaround, I just changed my messages on my iPad to start at C-2, C#-2, D-2, etc., and that works perfectly well. No changes to the maps themselves are necessary, I believe.
I see that it’s possible to ‘Transpose all Expression Maps in Project’ in octaves (9 in my case). I guess I could do that pretty quickly per project as an option to not change my controller messages.
I wish that when features get removed or changed, like this one, the manual would explicitly note these changes. To the user, it just seems like a hidden menu. Another slight frustration is that the maps sort in alphabetical order. Logical for sure, but I wish I could reorder them as I like. Small feature request, I guess.
