This is my first time buying and using Cubase. Been saving up for a long time.
But I am not sure how to get the full version.
Do I need a hard copy to be able to transfer from one computer to another?
Or is the software enough from the website?
I might change laptop so I need to make sure I get the right one. That lets me produce in peace.
You can purchase the download version from the Steinberg shop and install it on your computer. By default the license will be installed on that computer in what is called a soft e-license. In this situation you can only use your Cubase Elements 10.5 on that one computer.
But, you can purchase a USB e-licenser and put your Cubase license on it. Then you can install your Cubase onto another computer (using the same installation file you previously downloaded) and it will run as long as you have the USB e-Licenser connected to that computer.
True. But the soft e-license can be transferred to a different computer, like when you get a new PC. However doing so will be a minor hassle and not something you’d want to do frequently. Where as with the dongle you can take your license anywhere (and also loose or snap the connector off your license too).
Also you probably will want to get a hold of Steinberg’s Download Manager.
