Why cannot i record midi?

My record button keeps staying on solid and it wont let me record midi . i havent tried audio but im sure that works. but im working on music and it wont record my midi from my virtual instruments and the button stays solid red. how to fix this?

My expectation is, audio won’t work neither.

I guess, Cubase is waiting for some synchronization signal. Ensure, Cubase is set as master and it’s using an internal clock.

Can you attach a screenshot of the Synchronization Setup window, please?

Which instruments? Are you using a proper MIDI input device? If you are, for example, using your mouse to “play” the instrument through it’s GUI that’s not going to work for recording purposes.
