Why do the strings stop?

For some reason, the Violins I, II and Violas stop playing in bar 4. Can somebody find out how to make them play the full length that is notated? It happens when the Violoncellos come in with the same note as the Violas. Somehow Noteperformer or Dorico stops the Violins and Violas… This wasn’t always the case. It happened and I have no clue when or why…

Seems like it’s a NotePerformer issue, because it plays back correctly with the Auto template.

Thanks for trying! Is there a Wallander forum?

There’s a support form at the NP website, or you can tag @Wallander here!

Thanks! I’ll do that. @Wallander Can you take a look? File is attached to the top post ^

That’s a good question.

Switching to another VST produces the same results. Dorico sends only the first few notes of the tremolo.

If playback works with another Playback Template, I suppose this error could be triggered by some Expression Map setting used by NotePerformer.

Thanks, Arne! So it seems to be a Dorivo-problem. Any Ideas how to solve it?

It must be an Expression Map problem somehow. If I choose an Iconica Sketch or HALion Symphonic Orchestra template it does play back fine. However, choosing HALion Sonic Selection (which uses the most basic GM-sounds) it also does fail after bar 4.

The problem was with the Violin I and II tremolos.

I deleted them, undid the deletion and they played back OK.

It doesn’t explain why they worked with other libraries. Maybe some libraries sequence repeat markings differently?

I wonder what has changed that they now suddenly also work with NP.

Thanks all! I did delete the tremoloes and undid the deletion, but unfortunately the playback still stops… Even deleted everything and put it back. Even when I apply the tremoloes from the beginning of the notes, the same thing happens. How can I change the Expression Maps? I don’t know what they are…

I figured it might be a problem that the sounding pitch is the same in the Viola and the Cello, but removing the Cello doesn’t help either.

Can somehow make Dorico not play the tremoloes on this spot? Override? Maybe that will play the strings. I’d rather have tremololess strings then no strings at all…

Hi @RoelVanWijk, and what if you load the project file that @David_Tee attached to his posting, does that also not work with you?

Yes, that works! What did @David_Tee do? I’m going to try copy and paste it in my Project (a 4-part symphony)

I just copy-pasted the first and second Violin-part from @David_Tee 's repaired file into my project and it already works perfect! Thanks! We may never know what it was, but I’m happy!!! Thank you all!
