Why does Dorico change my corrections in a score?

Can you provide any specific information about something that you are changing and which you then find has unexpectedly been reset when you reopen the project?

Well, as described in my question: for example I have set rehearsal marks. In the score the look fine. But in the parts, a couple of them, not all of them, and mostly the same ones, the jump around, even after I put them back into place repeatedly. Like P or, M , they just happen to be all over the place, P even on different bars, close by. But that does not happen in all the parts. Some parts are fine, mostly. That is only one issue. I also find that player labels hop around frequently, or even system breaks get messed up after re-opening.

I downloaded your file but still cannot see your issue. Could you provide specific steps to reproduce your issue, such as:

  • move rehearsal mark P in layout X in this way (mouse or properties)
  • issue is to be seen in such way etc.

My experience is that if I move an item in Engrave mode, or even Write mode, it may, or may not have move when I open the same file again. Hard to explain, really. But thanks for helping!

If you move an item in WRITE mode, you change its semantic meaning, so of course it will change everywhere else too. You can only make visual adjustments in ENGRAVE mode. Engrave mode is for making it look the way you want. Write mode is for making it mean the way you want. Do not move anything in write mode unless you want to change its semantic meaning.

Hm, could well be the reason for the mess. I´ll see, because I still have to change something, and I won´t tdo that in Write Mode, only Engrave. Maybe it sticks, then? I´ll keep you informed.

If you change the position of a rehearsal mark in write mode, it will attach to another rhythmic position (small dotted orange line), and this will update to all layouts. It’s like changing where the accel starts or to which note a dynamic belongs. You‘ll also notice that it snaps in steps.
But if you move it in engrave mode, even all across the page, it will stay attached to the same rhythmic position (see again small dotted orange line). You‘ll notice that you can move it smoothly in every direction.
I would highly suggest you to play around a little.
This fact alone healed 90% of my Sibelius trauma when moving to Dorico.
