File won’t open … I use Dorico on an iPad and there is no backup folder in the Dorico file. If the file is corrupted, I want to know why since I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary on the device or with the file. Also want to know why there’s no backup folder even though I’ve paid for the full version of Dorico. I hope it’s fixable! File should be attached.

Hi!
I´ve had the same annoying issue with “Error opening file”. Now I found the pattern. If I have Dorico project open, and my iPad runs out of battery, my file corrupts and is never to be opened again.
Anyone experienced the same?
I can imagine everyone whose iPad dies during an auto-save operation may have had the same experience. The obvious solution is:
- Be aware that Dorico’s playback engine uses a lot of processor power and drains the battery faster than other apps, and
- Pay attention to the battery warnings from the System
Sorry if that seems harsh, but I don’t think there’s any better advice.
I wonder whether this is what happened to @benjaminchen9.
Yes, it happens sometimes, that I forget to quit Dorico and move to a different app. And if I happen to be on a gig I usually set display so that it is always on.
After the gig I forget to shut iPad and the next morning battery has run out and Dorico-file is corrupted.
Learned my lesson, but forget it now and then.
