Why no repeats played back here?

I was expecting Dorico to play 16 bars before Rehearsal Mark B but it just ignores the repeat end barline at bar 8.
I expect I’ve done something wrong but I can’t see what it is.
(Had trouble uploading Dorico project with Mac Safari “file size must be greater than 1” OK with Firefox)
Everybody’s song but my own.dorico (1.1 MB)

You need to activate play repeats in Playback options>Repeats.

There’s a problem with your repeat structure, Iain, so I’m afraid Dorico is going to keep turning off Play repeats every time you open the project until you fix it! Where is the end repeat barline at the end of bar 43 meant to go back to?

Hi,

I am having trouble on just one score in which playback will not recognize repeats. It says “invalid repeat structure detected.” I double checked all repeats, they are in fact valid. Any ideas of what to try?

Can you upload your project, or a cut-down version of it, here? You can delete all the notes, if you want.

Since you’re new to the forum, you may need to spend a few minutes browsing around and reading other topics before you can upload.

Often this error means that Dorico does not know where to repeat from. You’'ve added an end repeat sign, but where to start the repeat is ambiguous (at least to Dorico.) (See Daniel’s post above.)

But as @asherber said, we can pin it down for sure when you post a Dorico version of the program (even if you remove the notes first).

In m.44, you have an end repeat barline with no corresponding start repeat barline.

ahh I see … I corrected and it’s working now.
I’m new to Dorico … so, if you have one invalid repeat in the piece, none of the other valid repeats will play back.
