Why Nuendo can't import M4A files ?

I always have to convert m4a files to wav (or other format) with vlc to be able to import it to Nuendo.

So : Why Nuendo can’t import m4a files ?

I could be wrong but I have in the past just changed the ‘extension’ on m4a to mp4 and all seems fine (you’ll get a prompt that is ‘could’ be unstable but I haven’t seen this issue. Just FYI.
