Why would I want Neuendo

I see there is a deal on updating from my Cubase 13 Pro to Nuendo 13. I’ve had a quick look at the differences and can’t see any advantages for me, I use my Cubase primarily as a home recording studio and for writing music. I occasionally write music for short videos but am making Cubase work for that job.

Feel free to enlighten me.

Thanks,
Ricardo

It’s got extra tools and features but is more geared towards post-production. I’d say if Cubase is doing what you need it to, you have no use for Nuendo’s extra stuff.

Stay with Cubase.
Personally I’d like to have the Loudness Track and the “Export to LUFS” feature as well as the headphone correction library for the Control Room.

I’d like to know too. Does Nuendo need more CPU?

I’d say, if you don’t know why you would need Nuendo, the chances are that you don’t actually need Nuendo.

On the down side, normally the upgrade price for Nuendo is double that of Cubase (but the current deal is particularly sweet!). New versions of Cubase usually get released a few weeks or months before the equivalent version of Nuendo – the cynic in me would say that’s to give Cubase users time to beta-test the new features for Nuendo users :smiling_imp: . Some Nuendo features eventually make it into Cubase anyway.

Hello!

The main differences for me are the following:

  1. Clip Packages
These are combinations of audio files, which can also be searched in the MediaBay. Great for sound design.

  2. Randomizer
A plugin which randomizes pitch, envelope and spectrum of incoming audio, to avoid machine gun effect.

  3. Voice Designer
Allows to change the character of a sound in extreme ways. Mainly thought to be used on well…voices.

  4. Doppler
Allows you to create pannings, which also employ the famous pitch change when the sound source is in movement. Way more natural than a simple panning.

  5. Postfilter
Allows to filter single frequencies with a Q factor of 100 (regular EQs have 12 to 15). Perfect to eliminate one annoying frequency. Also allows to activate more notches for up to 8 harmonics of a selected frequency, for this nasty grounding issue.

As it is the same audio engine as Cubase, the CPU consumption is the same.
Also, there may be more differences in version 13. I am still on version 12.
Hope this helps.
