Wierd trouble downloading elicenser control center using windows 10

For some reason, on my win10 machine, I cannot dload the latest elicenser. Firefox will not go there.
Downloads | Steinberg will not go there.
https://www.steinberg.net/en/company/technologies/elicenser.html does not load.
In microsoft edge, I get ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR with that last page.

produces the same failures.

… but it works if I download the .exe file on 2 year-old linux, then transfer it via flash drive to windows. It installs and runs fine. Cubase is happy with it.

I think I must be the only one in the world with this problem. Never happened last year, or earlier.

I don’t know why you’re having a problem. I’m having no problems with Win 10, Brave browser.

I’ve traced the problem to the default app selection in win10 for files ending in .htm being set to notebook, while .html files are opened with the browser. This implies that the eLicenser download file must end in .htm. When I reassign the default app for .htm to browser, the problem is solved.
