Wiggly custom line opaque?

Hi, I am trying to make an opaque line to hide a line that continues in front of and behind the other. At the moment it only works for the text. See included example:

?

Hi @sandsang, I cannot understand what you are asking for. Can you upload a manuscript sketch of the end result you need?

You can create the the rall.+line as text +music text (right click>Insert Music Text…), and then set the background for that text to white. It will cover anything below it, thought:

Pretty close, the colliding with stuff underneath is not ideal, being a system line, it may need different length in different parts also. That’s why I prefer it to be an individually stretched line instead of a fixed length. But if there is no way around it I will use your suggestion. Thx

My two cents: apart from Christian’s brilliant demonstration (as usual) of his formidable mastery of Dorico, should we strictly adhere to this type of unorthodox notation, or transcribe it according to the graphic standards that correspond to a true musical engraving?

Sorry I don’t understand what you mean, either. Maybe you mean that the text hides everything? (For the record, I deactivate avoid collision for the text).

you can add/delete the single symbol that forms the line in the text with a simple copy paste, so you very easily can have the needed length for each text item.

I add a Dorico file example in my previous post, in case if would clarify things.

If it is system text it will be the same in all parts, also the length, but the width in each part is depending of the blackness of the individual bar. Also making the wavy line font size 24 will make the white field even wider. Morendo doesn’t necessarily mean slowing down, so it could be necessary to specify when to slow down, and when to just make it quieter. Making three lines in a row can be a possible solution in this case if opaque is not an option.

All the best

Whatever makes the music clear for the player
I think Dorico offers enough ways to build those indications in a clear and easy way, without the need of difficult to handle workarounds (as was mine) .

(Also: the word morendo means “dying” from there until the end (of the phrase, of the piece, the next tempo/dynamic or whatever), so a line should not be necessary at all costs, maybe)

I agree with @ObiwanKenobi

And Happy Composing, everyone!

(I agree)
Often I find that ‘creatives’ over-complicate their marks on the paper.

In this case - why is the line wiggly? What special information does it convey?

Morendo is clear and has duration.
Rall is clear (but why in brackets and for what duration?)
Pause is clear.
[I’ve no idea what those 2 circles are supposed to mean]

I think copyists have a duty to challenge the creatives if they want their works to be performed correctly.

(End of rant)

With a single line. Hard to change the place of the (rall.), though

Nice idea @jesele

If you set the rit. as center annotation, with the Placement to End (or Start), you can change the gap. (for different results in the same project it would be necessary to duplicate the line with different settings) :
