Will there be an update to the Steinberg utilities for Apple Silicon?

I’m on the beta of macOS 26.4 and have heard anew that Rosetta support will disappear at some point. This has been known for some time and I suspect won’t happen until macOS 27. But that’s not far off. I noticed that I have three Steinberg utilities that are still Intel-only and would likely not be functional under future macOS versions:

Will updated code be forthcoming for the Steinberg Download Assistant, Library Manager and Web Launcher? I’m sure the answer is yes but just wanted to check. Thanks!

Apple has publicly stated that Rosetta will be removed in macOS 28, so there’s at least a year and eight months.

Apple has learnt that they need to warn users of forthcoming changes in advance, and point the finger at developers, to avoid being blamed for ‘suddenly breaking things without warning’.

It’s another team at Steinberg who look after all these utilities. They do know that it needs to be done, of course. (I, for one, have flagged it.)

(Looks like I’ll need to get working on my font manager app to replace FontExplorerX…!)

Thanks. I couldn’t remember if it was 27 or 28 where the change would occur. Plenty of time for sure.

What’s interesting, or odd, is that I decided to open Finale since I had some older JW plugins that were never updated for Apple Silicon but worked in Finale under Rosetta. I now get an error message telling me those won’t work and displaying a button to move them to the trash, which I did. It doesn’t matter to me since I no longer compose using Finale, but interesting that it wouldn’t use those Intel-only plugins.

I’ve just noticed that SmartScore is still Intel-only, despite a “Tahoe-compatibility” update in October.
