Windows 10 vs Windows 7 performance

Hi all,

I have recently reformatted my PC and installed Cubase 9.5.50 on Windows 10 64 bits version 1909, instead of Windows 7 64 bits.

Since the Windows 10 installation, I’m experiencing very bad performance (high load) with my plugins and audio in Cubase 9.5.50. Before I was working on Windows 7 64 bits and did not have this bad performance.

My desktop is an Intel i7 from 2009, with 12GB of RAM and Gigabyte EX58-UD4P motherboard.

If I upgrade to Cubase 10.5 should I see a better performance?. Or do I need a new computer because of Windows 10?.

I would like to know if the performance on Windows 10 really goes down compared to the same computer running on Windows 7.

Most users seems to be very happy with how CB is working on their Windows 10 PC. For me… it works better than on my old Win 7 PC.

Ok thanks, I’m starting to think that my CPU is too old, an i7 from 2008 (first generation of Intel i7). Maybe this is why I have an overloaded performance, now with Win 10…
