would you guys say most of the advice in this thread still holds true? I’m currently in the market for a new computer and weighing my options. from many of the old threads I’ve read, it seems like most Cubase users prefer the Windows OS.

only now windows users can build with the new sandy bridge E-series Xeons for ultimate performance (if they have deep pockets)
the Mac pro hasn’t been updated 
so you’re still stuck with 2010 cpu’s in 2012.

What do you think of the iMac? There is one rumored to be released this summer alongside Mountain Lion. Or would you still recommend a fast and powerful, but maybe not as pretty, Windows machine?
Any recommendations for specs for maximum performance? I generally only work with recorded instruments and some effects, compression and equalization plug-ins. I do not have any huge sample libraries or use VSTi’s.
