I understand. What i would love even more though: real and serious open exchange of sessions between all DAWs (incl Avids). This way users can choose which features they like most and get ‘their DAW’, without missing out on basic features.
And if you really need all those PT/Nuendo features you can work around the other DAWs limitation with a rental plan.
Thats aside…DAW’s may be reaching their saturation point. Avid was the last Man standing, so to say, but they too had to auction themselves. Adobe found their own solution, whereas Apple and Blackmagic have different goals.
I think SB has an advantage when it comes to cutting edge music technology for example Yamaha Vocaloid though Dreamtonics Synthesizer V is almost there or may have overtaken the original with V2 that may hit the market soon.
I think the real problem with the progress of AI voice is i won’t be able to use google translate to generates robot voices for cartoons anymore… bummer.
I just don’t think this is the best way to go about it. Let me give you a very simple example:
If I’m trying to sell a production on using Nuendo and I have to interact with another engineer - and assuming they would be willing to adapt and use Nuendo instead of Pro Tools - I would still have a problem convincing them if some basic functions in Nuendo just aren’t up to par with Pro Tools.
Glide automation is one example. Trim automation is another. VCA a third. Plus some of what Tada wrote down.
It is far better to just “steal” whatever it is the competition is doing when the competition is clearly doing it better, rather than just ignore that. And at this point Steinberg is pretty much ignoring fixing some pretty basic stuff - or their priorities are a bit odd. Granted, there were some really great additions to Cubase 14 that many users wanted, but some of the stuff that’s relating to automation still being f-ed up!?
Does, does it not depend on, whether or not it is in Yamaha or Steinberg’ interests?
It is well known with competing software, often there are innovations, that in one way or another, are enabled by ASIO, so whatever Steinberg do with their software, it would take into account, user views, whether in the forum or elsewhere.
Maybe, the Voting system was flawed (pun intended) because having a mere 5 votes, it could hardly bring about a quick answer.
I am not suggesting the forum be a mirror, for which development must view itself, but the possibility is there now, with ARM, that there will be many new features, that will be trivial to implement under a refined system.
All, I want is for my beloved software developer to be at the forefront, which I have no doubt about whether or not they are.
Many of these so-called “feature requests” are rarely articulated in an easy-to-understand way, for people who may not be so aware of what the function is that is being requested.
It would seem that a great many of these requests, are in fact audio related, that is they are post features, as in post recording or composition, so while I am not against them myself, since I use the audio functions of the DAW; unless properly articulated, does anyone really think they will be meticulously read and compiled into a list of must haves?
Cubase, before Nuendo was always a composition tool first, and second an audio workstation, and now a post-production platform so while I am very confident, that a great many new and previously non-existent audio-specific features will come with ARM, again unless articulated properly, I’d not expect there to be conversation, let alone implementation, of any of what may actually be considered niche features.
Subfolders in the timeline with independent time/tempo. (Nested timelines).
Make it possible to have overlapping tempi concurrently running. That would make it possible to move (midi) music (other other) freely in the timeline and keep everything musically organized. Ok, maybe I’m dreaming here…
Freely combinable stems from the export window.
However much I try to anticipate the wishes for individual mixdown stems, I always seem to have to manually bounce custom combinations eventually. Also setting up busses specifically for stems can negatively affect the mixing, esp for music. I wish there was a way to “group” tracks in the export window and add to the axport cue.
Identify stereo tracks (or higher order multichannel) that only contains mono information and convert to mono on a mono track.
Small request in context but a huge timesaver when receiving stems for mixing. You can macro some of the steps but you still have to identify the mono ones and some of the steps need manual input, so not really.
Workflow in Variaudio:
Every time I use Variaudio, I have to Zoom in vertically and horizontally. If you use Variaudio in the next track, you have to Zoom all over again. Every single time.
Variaudio should not reset how it was last Zoomed by the user.
Please, add a Lyric Plugin like or better VSTLive!
We need to show to the artist a lyric or chords showed in the gadget (VST Mods). will be great feature!
“Hi, I think what would really make a significant impact would be to include SpectraLayers Pro in Nuendo for the same price. Apart from any new features it might have.”
I’ve seen a feature into Da Vinci Resolve that must be implemented in Nuendo as it is a postproduction audio tool. The function is something like “auto pan audio with image”. The sound follows the position of the actor in the screen.
Have anyone experienced with it or anything like this?
Depends
If you are involved in VFX, Fairlight Intelli Tracker is a natural choice, offering exceptional speed in managing multiple moving elements, characters, objects, and dynamic environments swirling across the screen. Whether syncing explosions, ambient noises, or dialogue in VFX-heavy sequences, Intelli Tracker ensures precision and efficiency, making it an indispensable tool for VFX artists transitioning into sound design.
By streamlining complex workflows (depending on your background), it enables seamless synchronization of sound with visuals, providing an intuitive and fluid experience that enhances both creativity and productivity.
Fair enough. I would think this would be pretty heavily dependent on the type and scope of production then. At some point if things are turned over to audio post for mix the panning will follow from the edit so we don’t need the functionality. If things aren’t turned over it’s a moot point because we don’t end up in Nuendo anyway. For smaller projects I doubt there’s a big gain all things considered (for us when we place and/or pan effects).
But like I said, fair point. If the functionality was added to Nuendo I’m betting I would use it.
I don’t see the point of the intelli-panner. You pan using your ears most of the time, not an algo. And unlike some animation movies, panning is actually quite often pretty simple for live-action. Most of the dialogue sits in the center, and so does anything linked to it (Foley, hard FX), most of the time. So spending time developing something that’s pretty pointless doesn’t seem to be a good use of devs.
