With "Last Touched" disabled, only the last 5 automation parameters visible in Select Parameter box

Been diving into N15, and there’s a lot to like!

Something that it inherited from an un-fixed C15 is that you can only see a max of five automation parameters in the drop-down automation Select Parameter box. This is with Last Touched turned off, so it’s not that.

Here is a post in a long thread with clear pics: C15: When selecting automation in the Project Window, I can’t see which ones are being used - Cubase - Steinberg Forums

I should have waited for the trial before I cross-graded to N15. (Lesson learned – no need for “I Told You So!”)…but I’m back on C14 till this is fixed.

In previous versions you always see a long list of immediately selectable automated parameters when you click on the automation parameter bar. This is a major issue for me (and lots of others in the Cubase forum), and was one of the reasons I stayed on C14 instead of C15 because of the time it cost me since my projects have lots of automation. The time-consuming and multiple click/mouse-heavy workaround of “Show All Used Automation” then look for the parameter you want can be used, but it’s not acceptable considering this feature has been there forever. EDIT: The Search box is not fully functional now either, but even if it were it’s a slow workaround in comparison.

To recreate: Click on the Automation Parameter selection box on a track in the Project Window. It used to show a long list of automated parameters on the selected track so you could easily/instantly select what you want to adjust – now it only shows five, regardless of whether you have Last Touched enabled or disabled.

The fix: When “Last Touched” is disabled in Preferences, restore the former behavior of seeing the first 15 automated parameters in the Select Parameter box for automation in track headers.

Not on N15 yet but wasn’t there a search box for automation now? So type the automation you want (Cutoff, Resonance, mix, treshold, etc) and presto there is your lane of choice.

In this case that doesn’t work like it used to, it’s also broken in C15 and N15. But even if it did work as it should, it takes a lot longer than to just click/select/let go like it was before. It might not be an issue for some, but I work at a fast pace with tons of automated parameters and this makes a big difference for me (and others, if the Cubase forum is any indication.)

I’m not being argumentative at all, I appreciate the help.

I… think you needed to learn that lesson through own experience.

You can click on the ‘+’ sign first, to expand the whole tree, thus viewing all parameters… Is that any help.?

Hi Puma, thanks for the help.

What you posted shows all the parameters that are available, yes. But what I wrote is seeing the parameters that are automated…like we were able to do in all previous versions. The new Last Touched feature broke something because when it’s disabled we can only see the last 5 instead of a long list like it used to be.

Sorry @Electriks - I woefully misunderstood…

Found a topic on Cubase pages showing more with helpful visuals of this new (bad) situation/behaviour.!

All good!

Yes, that’s my thread. I’ll post a link at the top of this, too.

Hi, I totally understand the frustration — I’m in exactly the same situation. I automate a huge number of parameters in all my projects, so this is a serious issue for me as well.

Once you save the project and reopen it, the automation you created is no longer visible, and it drove me crazy. Before, you had access to all your automation with a single click.

In the end, I had to go back to Cubase 14.
