this one caught me off guard… selecting audio in the editor and hitting the DELETE key does nothing… this is a muscle memory behavior from all previous versions of WL… is there a setting somewhere that i’m missing to assign the delete key to delete?
Unless I have changed something from default in a previous version (which I don’t think I have), the [Backspace] key is set to Mute in the Editor and to Erase Selected Range in the Montage. To Delete a selected audio range in the Editor or Delete Selected Clips in the Montage, you have to press the actual delete key [Del] (the actual print may vary on the language of your keyboard).
You can check your settings in the preferences, just search for the Name or the Keyboard Shortcut.
On both Mac and windows, DELETE key works.
If it does not for you, first try restarting WaveLab.
If it still does not work, check your shortcuts. Maybe one was mistakenly assigned to the DEL key.
Otherwise, maybe you have a system-wide utility that traps that key.
Do you still have WaveLab 11 to compare with?
yeah, WL 11 works fine in this way. my keyboard has a “backspace” key which is what i have always used to delete audio… and works fine in WL 11.
i copied my key settings from 11 to 12… but maybe this one got lost in the shuffle?
i do see the the backspace key mutes/erases the audio… but doesn’t delete the time.
i have also restarted WL12 and it didn’t fix it.
i’ll look at my shortcuts…
UPDATE:. ok, i had to go clear the MUTE keyboard command and redo the DELETE AUDIO one. .and now it’s back and working. not sure why this didn’t propagate over from my WL11 settings… but, all good now. thanks!
