Wl13 feature album function

Hi :waving_hand: There

I’m looking for ways to save time and avoid mistakes when exporting the album PDF.

Most of us use the “CD Album to PDF” function to send a vinyl album to cutting. (or cassette)

Right now, we usually add extra information in the Comments field, but it takes a lot of space, so the PDF often ends up on 2 pages and the 2nd page is not read or gets forgotten. This leads to phone calls, wasted time, etc.

It would be great to make everything more compact,

but also more standardized, in a header with 2 or 3 columns, taking at most 1/4 of the page.

For example, by ticking options like we already do now, but more vinyl-oriented :check_box_with_check::

  1. Side / Group (Side A, B, C, D, etc.) / 1 track per side or full album

  2. Bit depth / sample rate

  3. Record reference (catalog number)

  4. Our contact details

Then the track list would use all the remaining space, to make sure it fits on a single page, even if that means reducing the font size.

When saving, it would be helpful if the Side / Group could be inserted as a variable at the beginning of the default file name.

At the moment, I often overwrite Side A by mistake, because I forget to type “A - name of montage” manually. It sounds funny, but it’s as annoying as forgetting to put the strain relief on a cable before soldering, and having to desolder / resolder just to add it. In the end, it’s a real source of errors for me.

if this is possible, it would be great.

Possibly there other great ideas to implement on this pdf function but, this is start

Please complete if you have ideas.

Best Olivier

All the info might fit in the 1ft quarter of the page in 2 or3 rows

Leave space for the tracks etc.

And avoiding writing and making mistakes with info

In the next version, the PDF will be a little bit more compact.

This being said, don’t forget that you can also export the data as HTML, and on most computers, you can save HTML that as a PDF with probably some layout differences with what WaveLab gives (using the Print function).

And you can also export the data as XML from WaveLab. Maybe you could ask some AI to write a script that format it to something useful for you (?).

Hi @PG1 super nice :+1:.

If you need any feedback on that, send screenshots, I’ll be happy to help.

yes that’s right we could do differently in a more complex way to get it on one page, but it’s all about time and mistakes and putting attention on mastering more then on controlling exporting re-writing html xml pdf or sending email/sms to remind to read the pdf second page.

The more I do routine stuffs the more likely I’ll miss something, I wrongly cut something etc.

I love the reliable set and forget things. you’d design many in WL by the way, a great thanks for that.

Just thinking about set and forget way to make this “one page report pdf by side.”

Most of engineers I know using wl do the same kind of light “label copy” pdf.

I like wl because we could store every thing in the same place, and it’s great and reliable for export etc.

What would be very time saving is Having the pdf made in the save export setting. Like a multi format export. But instead of an audio file it exports also the pdf.

For exemple we export group A files.

We tick album report, or set a multi-format.

And it export the file and the pdf. With the group file name at the beginning of the file name or something like that.

We would save approx 4 minutes every time. It would be a very nice improvement to me.
