I’m setting up a 2 computer system where I have Dorico Pro 6 on both computers for now.
Issue: I don’t find all the EM’s & PM’s, plus added instruments, endpoints, etc. I have on my first Dorico, on my second Dorico Pro app. So how do I set the new Dorico up so it has everything I have on the other Dorico Pro app?
Is it still a cumbersome process or have previous issues on this subject been resolved in Dorico Pro 6’s latest version?
If all of the maps are in one project, you could just create a new project on the second computer and then use the Library Manager to transfer the settings from the old project? Does that do the job?
Dorico 6 now has File > Export User Settings, which will create a zip file with all of your user-specific settings, and then File > Import User Settings.
At a glance, it looks like the only thing it doesn’t copy over is the DefaultLibraryAdditions folder.
Gosh, that’s good to know! I’ve had Dorico on my old Windows desktop and (less old) Mac Mini M1. I often found that my settings varied between the two! I’ve been playing ping-pong using a NAS drive when necessary but, for the most part, just lived with it or adjusted settings and options “on the fly.”
Thanks — I’ll have to check that out!

DefaultLibraryAdditions is a folder in which you can put files containing object definitions that get added to the base library provided by Dorico. For example, there’s a solution here on the forum that uses a file added to this folder to create an instrument with a 0-line staff.
But it’s a folder that you would have had to add files to manually, so if you don’t recognize it, then it’s not something you’re using (and not something you’ll miss).
I’ll check out the “Dorico 6 now has File > Export User Settings”.
I use Dorico as one of my main apps, and I still don’t know where every component/folder/content is located on my computer; and since I now have 2 computers networked, it’s getting more complex to know where things need to be or are, so Dorico works as I would like it to work.
Dorico stores its config files in c:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Dorico 6 on Windows and /Users//Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 6 on Mac.
You can always work with these folders to sync things by hand between two computers, but Export/Import does simplify things.
