The ribbons feel great. If your hands are too dry apply some hand lotion and they work and look great. I got them on sale for half price $99 each. Great deal.
If you need to “ride a vocal”, do you feel like you’re going to get tendentious from having to simultaneously hold down the shift button while using the fader?
Is there some sort of “lock” mode to keep the fader at it’s full 1027-step resolution?
You can solo and mute channels by simply pressing the Shift button and tapping onto the respective touch strip…
Riding the fader? With slide operation, this allows finer adjustment of the level. Feels great to me…
Okay, I was able to download the user manuals and check for myself. Apparently the 1,027-step fader resolution is available ONLY when the shift button is held down. Otherwise, it’s a mere 128 step fader resolution.
I think for serious fader work, there should be some sort of “shift lock” option. I can’t imagine riding the fader with one finger on the shift key is a very comfortable or ergonomic way of mixing…
Although it was already mentioned in passing, I would recommend taking a serious look at the Panorama P1 (same as already mentioned P6, but without keyboard)
If you’ve got an iPad, Cubase iC Pro is worth looking at. Since giving up on the Alphatrack (fed up of waiting for drivers), I’ve found the iC Pro very handy.
The Cubase iC Pro app is awesome for tracking/remote control, for sure. Not meant to be a mixing application, though.
Re: the Panorama kit; 40mm, non-motorized faders is a big step DOWN from the 100mm/1027 step motorized faders folks are used to on Faderport/Mackie/CS121 etc. (Can’t speak on the CMC ribbon faders 'cause I haven’t tried 'em yet)
I am a real fan of touch daw, this is a 5 euro/$5 app for android, it integrates very well in cubase as a mackie control device.
It has several modes, the transport mode at the moment works only on a phone, it also has midi pads & keyboard.
The best $5 I ever spent.
I like it because I can stand in the middle of the room with my tablet and tweak surround mixes.
I have tried cubase ic pro on android, but at the moment it seems very buggy, the play button gets stuck, and the audio system cuts in and out.
take away the shiny silver crap knobs, faders ,and transport dial and you might be having a reasonable controller … i mean who else has given us food for thought ?
