Wrong audio track after "archive as"

Hello,
I’m trying to describe this strange behavior after using “Archive As” in a way that makes sense.
In my project, after using “Archive As” (80 songs/audio tracks only), the wrong audio tracks appear for some songs—specifically, all the tracks from the wrong song.
I thought it might be a one-time error, so I do a “Song Import” and import the vlsprj. file for the song from the pool containing the individual folders from the Cubase export. There’s no other way to do it…
Then everything is fine, and every song has its correct tracks.
Now, to get everything into that ONE famous project folder, I do “Archive as” again, and unfortunately, I have the problem again afterward. And not just with that song, but with one or two others as well.

My audio tracks have the names of that song…not just like “audio0001” or so.
What am I doing wrong?

Can yo take a screenshot how your SONG/Song Media files / Audio

looks like (eg the file you mentioned “audio0001”…) ?

The Trackname is “Down Down” but all the tracks play another Song and the waveform are also from another song…

There’s absolutely no chance of confusing the file names…

Every exported Song (from Cubase) has it’s own folder, filename, tracknames…

Possibly a daft question: If you play the file in another program (e.g. Audacity) does it play correctly?

Hi Clive,

in the original folder from where I import the song to the project there are only the right audio tracks always with the names of the song. only the channel names are similar to other songs ( like Lvx for Leadvocals).

and yes, in those folders the audiotracks play what they should play.

It confuses me that they keep the right name but play the wrong file after “archive as”…

Update:

I found out that the audio files of the songs that have problems are not copied into the audio folder of the “archive as” projekt folder. And VL3 does not show “media offline” it seems to replace those missing files with another song file which is “I Want You To Want Me” that shows up in 2 “wrong” songs…

Upps!

I have to apologize! Some Songs habe the same names in their audiofiles (just like the channel names) !!!

I didn´t see that until now:

Now my question:

can I rename them in VL 3 before “archive as” or do I have to export them with correct names once again out of cubase as export to VST live?

I would have thought you could rename them and then repoint them in VSTL when they show as missing. Prove them working and then archive.

Hi Clive,

Thank you.

I tried that, but somehow I didn´t find the right way to repoint/relink them.

A hint would be nice, but it´s only 9 songs that are named wrong in THIS projekt. so that is to manage with a new export.

Tomorrow I´ll check my main projekt…and hope that there is no such chaos…and therefore a renaming and repointing option would really help.

Thank you meanwhile for your fast help!

Good feelin not to be left alone!

Have a nice evening :victory_hand:

Hello,
Unfortunately, I haven’t quite reached my goal yet:
I have songs with confusing names in the audio files (e.g., drums without the song title), and this works when they’re imported directly from Cubase.
Now I want to rename these audio files IN VST Live and then export them as “Save Song,” because VST Live has since added MIDI tracks for the Kemper and video files, so re-importing newly exported and better-named Cubase files would still be a lot of work.
Question: HOW can I rename the audio files in VST Live?
I entered the new name in the Track window and also in the Channel Name, but when I selected “Save Song” and also “Export Song Project,” the old name “Drums” kept appearing.
Am I on the wrong track?

Close VSTL and rename them in your file manager. Sorry - I should have been more specific earlier.
