Hi,
I’m not sure if others are still as perplexed by myself as to how to get the free download x-stream. I know some like me had downloaded but had a problem with no activation code or it not appearing in the My product downloads of the Download Manager.
I found that if I WAS SIGNED IN to Steinberg (check to see whether your profile is right when you click on the profile icon) and went to the product page on the Steinberg website and clicked on the link that said ‘Get x-stream for free’ I would immediately get an email saying it had been added to ‘My Product Downloads’ in the Download manager.
It did and then after a good hunt around I found a very simple guide on the Steinberg website that worked first time so I have taken a screenshot of the relevant page and here it is…
It didn’t activate automatically but I just used the Activation manager, found X-stream in the list and clicked ‘activate’. When I opened up Halion in Cubase X-stream and presets were available to me!

I hope this helps others.
For what its worth it is a monophonic synth that has some expansive sounds but I found it to not actually be that usable for much else. Tones were generally buried in reverb etc so playing any kind of melody was hard to follow.
Building up Pads can only be done by layering multiple instances and once you had two or three, the wall of sound was soooo dense it was somewhat overwhelming of anything else.
Still - worth the price!
